 WARNING 

Do not remove the radiator pressure cap until the coolant temperature is below 50°C [120°F]. Failure to do so can cause personal injury from heated coolant spray.

Remove the radiator pressure cap.

Pressure test the radiator cap.

The pressure cap must seal within 14 kPa [2 psi] of the value stated on the cap, or it must be replaced.

Inspect for Reuse

Remove the radiator cap.

Inspect the rubber seal of the pressure cap for damage.

Inspect the radiator or expansion tank fill neck for cracks or other damage.

Refer to the OEM service manual if the fill neck is damaged.

NOTE: Make sure the correct pressure cap is used. Refer to Procedure 018-018 in Section V.
